The OSType, i.e. sunos, linux, darwin, aix, windows, should agree across platforms. Additionally, the synonyms solaris for sunos and macosx for darwin should be permissible in all API libraries. Note that we may keep the underlying catalogs strict, e.g. only permit the uname-compatible names, but permit the synonyms in the API libraries. (Basic protocol design: Be relaxed with what you accept, be strict with what you generate.)
